My body melts against him. âI wish we were going right now.â
âPatience, Angel Face.â
I groan and strap on my helmet.
Itâs a short ride to the gym. I recognize most of the cars in the parking lot since itâs too early to be very busy.
I dismount first and Wyatt grabs my hand. âHey, before we go inside, let me take you next door.â
The space has been empty for months. Wyattâs told me heâs in negotiations to buy the property next to his gym to expand Furious Fitness. Iâm excited he finally wants to show me around the buildings that used to house, among other things, a spa and tanning salon.
âI think we could offer more classes back here,â he says, pointing to the spot in question. âWeâll have one or two more offices. Bigger locker rooms.â He rattles off a bunch more improvements he has planned. Iâm overwhelmed and full of pride.
âWhat do you think?â he finally asks.
The enormity of how far weâve traveled together and apart overwhelms me. âYouâve come a long way since the surly, cocky guy who walked into my bar all those years ago.â
The look he gives me is full of affection and heat. âYeah?â
âThis is going to be huge,â I say, spinning in a circle in the back parking lot.
He flashes one of those panty-melting grins heâs so good at. âI know no other way, babe.â
âThereâs my cocky Wrath.â I run over, slamming into his body, wrapping my arms around him.
He tips his head down. âYou like it?â
âI love it. Itâs amazing. Iâm so excited for you.â
âThis will be good for us, babe. A lot of improvements. Iâm hiring two more professional trainers to attract more clients. Murphyâs buying in as a partner.â
âReally?â I hesitate for a second, my teeth nipping into my lower lip. Iâm not quite sure how to express my feelings in a way that wonât be offensive. âDonât be mad.â
He raises an eyebrow. âMad about what? Whatâs going on in your nutty little head?â he teases. A little more serious, he adds, âThereâs nothing that would ever make me mad at you.â
I push the words out quickly. âIâm really proud of you.â
His lips turn up. âWhy would that make me mad?â
âI donât know.â
âTrinity, there are very few people in the world whose opinions I give a shit about. Yours is definitely one of them.â
He hugs me a little closer. âWeâll have the widest variety of trainers. Iâm thinking of even adding yoga to keep the housewives happy.â
âTalk to Swan. Sheâs looking for more classes to teach.â
âYouâre already a big help.â He wraps one of his arms around my shoulders. âNow, I want to show you my favorite part.â
Curious, I let him lead me to the empty space that used to be a nail salon.
âAre you planning to add mani/pedis, too?â I ask.
His lips slide into a sneaky grin. âNo.â
He unlocks the door and pushes it open, revealing an all-empty, white space.
âWhat are you using this for?â
âNot me. You.â
âMe?â
His hands settle on my shoulders, gently pushing me farther into the store. âI think this space would make a perfect studio.â
âFor what?â
âFor your business. So you donât always have to do photo shoots outdoors. You can have the right lighting andââhe waves a hand at the empty spaceââwhatever stuff you need.â
âWyatt, you think Iâm ready for that?â It takes a second to process what heâs saying. âI donât know.â
His fingers settle under my chin, tilting my head back. âI know. You have more and more people who want your photos. More people who want you to photograph them. Itâs time you have the right space for it. Itâs not a hobby anymore, Trinity.â
I stand there trying to absorb his words. Maybe because I donât have a whole lot of faith in myself, but I still think of my photography and design business as a hobby. Wyattâs taken me seriously since the day I told him how I spent my spare time. Went so far as to buy me all the equipment I needed. Now heâs offering me a workspace, too.
Itâs huge. To me, itâs huge. In actions and words, Wyatt supports my hobby-turned-business. It doesnât even seem to bother him that most of my time is spent photographing half-naked guys.
But buying me a building? Thatâs long-term, looking ahead to the future, faith in me. The realization makes my words stick in my throat. âYou donât have to do this,â I finally whisper.
âHey.â His face is calm, but thereâs mischief shimmering in his eyes. âIâm going to be your husband. And as your husband, my responsibilities are more than all those crazy orgasms I give you.â
Underneath my nervous laughter, my heart flutters. âGod, youâre arrogant.â
He nods, agreeing with me, then turns serious. âYouâre really good at what you do. I want you to have everything you deserve. Want to be the one who gives it to you.â
My eyes water, and Iâm thankful for the dark sunglasses perched on my nose.
âThank you.â
âItâs not finalized yet. Wonât be until the sale goes through. But I want to make sure you like it and youâll be comfortable here.â
âI love it.â
âGood. Youâll be right next door, so I can make sure youâre safe. I still donât want you meeting with anyone alone.â
Wyatt supports this new career path of mine, but he has one hard rule he wonât bend on. I canât meet any of my models alone. Guys he trusts, like Jake, are fine. Anyone else, he insists on escorting me or scheduling the session at the gym. âI wonât.â
His body tenses up and he stares at me, searching every angle of my face as if heâs trying to memorize my features. âI canâtâ¦I couldnât be without you, Trinity.â He tilts his head. âAll of this stuff is meaningless without you.â While Wyatt and I enjoy teasing each other, the roughness in his voice tells me how sincere he is.
Thereâs nothing to say or do, except slide my arms around his waist and squeeze him tight. I rest my cheek against his chest, absorbing his warmth, and listen to his heart thump. âI love you so much,â I murmur.
He wraps me up in his arms, and we stand there together for a few minutes. At some point, my hand slips down and I might take advantage and squeeze his butt a little.
âThe front doorâs still open.â He rumbles with laughter. âHave some self-control, woman.â
âI donât have any around you.â
I get a similar ass-squeeze, then he pulls away. âTime to get to work.â
He closes the door and takes my hand, walking us back to the gym. My mindâs so busy trying to process everything, I donât notice Gina, one of his regular customers, until sheâs running toward us.
As our wedding day approaches, I find it difficult not to slap most of the women who fawn all over my man. Gina is no exception.
âMr. Ramsey! Wait up, please.â
He pauses, grumbling under his breath something I canât catch.
She rambles on about an after-school karate program she wants him to consider, never once taking a breath or looking at me.
Wyatt finally interrupts her. âGina, this is my wife, Trinity. Youâve met, right?â
âYouâre married?â she gasps, instead of oh, I donât know, saying hello.
âTen more days.â I hug him a little tighter and pat his chest. Her eyes rake down my body, then back to my face.
âYouâre a stunning couple,â she says. âYouâll make beautiful babies.â Her lips curve into a quick smile.
âUh, thanks,â I answer.
She twists toward Wyatt again and bats her heavily-slicked lashes. Who wears that much mascara to the gym for fuckâs sake?
Wyatt tightens his hold on me and steers us toward the gym. âI need to check in with my guys, Gina. Jakeâs brother, Sully, will be taking over some of my cl
asses. You can give the details to him.â
She huffs but follows us inside.
A few more of his regular admirers are clustered around the counter. Today, theyâre busy gawking at Teller, which Iâm sure heâs not loving at the moment. They turn and stare at us when we walk in. This particular group of women are lucky Iâm not a typical bikerâs olâ lady, or each one would be getting a punch to the throat right about now for eye-fucking my man when Iâm standing right next to him. I never call them out on their shameless flirting, because I know for Wyatt itâs only business and no matter how much they annoy me, Iâd never do anything to embarrass him.
Doesnât stop me from wanting to lick him and declare him mine in front of each and every one.
Hell, heâd probably like it if I did.
Tellerâs already earned his keep today by entertaining a few of my regular female clients. Fuck, do I get tired of their yammering and not-so-subtle hints. The more persistent ones stick around trying to capture the attention of the new guy.
All the female attention has replaced Tellerâs usual sour expression with a slight smirk. I canât say itâs an improvement.
âWhereâs your buddy?â I ask after the ladies go away.
He points toward a gang of teenage girls who seem to gather here every other afternoon. âI donât think my sisterâs going to appreciate his fan club.â
I know for a fact Murphy canât stand those girls, and the only reason he hasnât tossed them out is that I told him he canât. Itâs bad for business.
Finally, Twitch walks over to help. Murphy gives him a fist-bump and ducks away.
âBro, seriously, how are they good for business?â Murphy bitches as soon as he sees me.
âThey arenât. Their parents who pay their fees are.â
Next to me, Trinity laughs. âMy husband, the hustler.â
I donât miss the way Teller shifts his gaze to the window.
âTheyâre harmless,â I say, âand the guys appreciate them.â I jerk a thumb toward Dylan, whoâs moved in like a fucking shark to offer his personal trainer services to one of the girls.
âYou running a gym or a hookup site?â Teller asks with a bit of snap in his tone.
âWatch yourself, welterweight.â
He scowls at the nickname but shuts his mouth.
Trinity raises on tiptoes and presses a kiss to my cheek. âIâll be out back. Behave, boys,â she says, throwing up her hand in a quick wave on the way out. I keep my eyes on her, watching as she stops to talk to Jake and his brother Sully.
âYou trust Jake around her?â Teller asks.
I almost say âMore than I trust you at the moment.â But itâs overly harsh and not even true, so I keep it to myself.
Doesnât matter what I was about to say anyway. Our attentionâs drawn to Heidi, carrying her daughter as she struggles to open the front door.
âWhatâre you doing here, beautiful?â Murphy asks, opening the door and plucking Alexa out of her arms. He tucks Heidi against his side and shoots a look at Teller, as if daring him to say something.
Heidiâs gaze darts between her brother and me, and I raise an eyebrow. âYou realize we actually work here sometimes, right?â I joke.
She wriggles out of Murphyâs hold. âI know. Sorry. Iâ¦was drivingââ
âIâm messing with you, Heidi.â At least when Heidi stops by, she usually helps out, so I donât mind having her here. Free labor and all that. Although I doubt sheâll be able to do much since the babyâs with her.
âWhyâd you bring Alexa?â Teller snaps.
She glances at Murphy before answering. âI took her to look for a dress for the wedding. The one I had doesnât fit now.â
Twitch pops up, beaming at Heidi like an idiot. âHey, Heidi.â
Both Teller and Murphy glare at Twitch. The tension between the four of them, while funny as fuck, is nothing I want to deal with, so I leave them to work it out.
Iâm not even in my office for five seconds before Teller hobbles in.
âWhatâs wrong?â I ask, scowling at his lack of knocking.
âNothing. Theyâre irritating me.â
âEverything irritates you.â
âYou should have kicked her out. She shouldnât have the baby here, and they donât need to be all over each other all day long.â
âBro, settle the fuck down.â I canât believe this even needs to be said or that Iâm the one who has to say it. âLet them be happy for five seconds. They just got engaged.â
He shakes his head and opens his mouth, probably to say something else stupid. I cut him off by pointing to the open door. âClose it.â
Thatâs right, I sit there and watch him struggle to get up and slam the door shut.
âSit the fuck down.â
His eyes widen, but he takes his seat.
âI thought you were cool with their engagement?â
âYou donât understand. I want her toââ
âTeller. I love you, brother. Itâs time to worry about yourself, though.â
He opens his mouth to interrupt me, and I hold up a hand before he spits out a single word. âI respect the hell out of you for making Heidi a priority pretty much your entire lifeââ
âNot enough of one apparently.â
âDonât interrupt me.â I stare him down until Iâm sure heâs going to keep his mouth shut. âSheâs an adult. And sheâs Murphyâs problem now.â He glares at me. âTime to let go. Focus on yourself.â Thinking about my own sister, I realize Iâm the worst kind of hypocrite. Had Faith made it to Heidiâs age, I probably would have been ten times worse than Teller. Even so, I hate seeing him make himself so miserable.
âIâwhatever.â
âDonât whatever me, fucker.â
He finally cracks a smile. âI feel like shit that I couldnât be there for her when she needed me.â The smile slips off his face. âI wish Iâd fought her harder about marrying Axel, pushed her and Murphy togetherâ¦done something so she didnâtââ
âSeriously? Christ, you really are Rockâs mini-me. Quit blaming yourself for stuff you had nothing to do withâ
He glances down at his feet. âItâs hard.â
Thereâs a tap at the door before either of us says another word. Trinity pokes her head in and glances at the two of us. âIâm going to run out and grab lunch for everyone. You two want anything?â
She writes down our lunch orders, I give her some cash, and she turns to leave.
âTake someone with you,â I say.
I donât miss her exasperated sigh. âItâs right across the roadââ
One hard look from me, and she rolls her eyes. âHeidiâs coming with me. Everyone else is busy.â
âTake Sully or Dylan. They canât be that fuckinâ busy. Sully doesnât have any classes yet.â
âFine.â She huffs but leans over to kiss my cheek. âYouâre lucky I love you so much, âcause youâre a pain in my ass.â
Before I can grab her for a deeper kiss, she darts away. She pats Tellerâs shoulder as she walks out, leaving the door open.
I watch Tellerâs eyes follow her into the gym for a solid minute, then clear my throat.
âThatâs the other thing we need to talk about.â
Slowlyâtoo slowly for my tasteâhe turns my way. âWhat?â
âYou.â I point at the door Trinity just walked through. âSheâs my olâ lady. About to be my wife. I donât share. The puppy dog eyes need to fucking stop.â
For a second, I think he stops breathing. His jaw drops. But not in a guilty, I-got-caught way.
âI-I didnât⦠No disrespect. I wouldnâtââ he stammers.
Yeah, just as I thoughtâhe didnât even realize he was doing it. âI know.â
âIâm sorry, brother.â He takes a second to meet my eyes. âYou gonna kick my ass now?â
âNo.â The answer comes out easily. No competitive fire gets stirred up inside me. I donât have a shred of insecurity a
bout my relationship with Trinity. âIâm glad youâ¦cared about her in the past. But you need to move on.â
He maintains the eye contact. âI thought I had. Iâm sorry.â His apology is brief but sincere. Itâs all I need from him.
The silence that fills the room isnât even awkward.
âItâs not an excuse, but Iâm still so fucked up over what happened.â He runs his hand over his legs. âNot thisââ
âKeeping up with your physical therapy?â
His head snaps up and the fierce glare returns. âYes.â
Heâs in a bad place. Thatâs what stops me from knocking him the fuck out for his disrespect. Instead, I try to be patient and share my own experience. âWhen I was recovering from my accidentââ
âYeah, you didnât kill anyone in your accident,â he mumbles.
Shit. I want to help him, but everything that comes out of my mouth seems to make it worse.
âBrother, thatâs not your fault.â The whole club knows something was going on with Teller and Mariella, and I really do understand how awful he must feel. âWhat was up with you two? Were youââ
âIt wasnât like that.â
I wait for him to add some detail, and he sighs. âYou really want to hear this?â
âI wouldnât ask if I didnât.â
He slides his gaze away from me and drops his chin to his chest. âShe still wasnât right from her time with the Vipers. Lot of nightmares. When it got real bad, she liked to come stay in my room.â He swallows hard and glances at the door. âI told her Iâd keep her safe.â
A heavy sigh eases out of me. âThatâs not on you.â
He opens his mouth to argue with me, and I hold up my hand. âNo. Listen, none of us were as close to her as you were. I know we donât bring it up a lot, but we all feel bad about what happened. She was a sweet girl who did not deserve that. You canât blame yourself.â
âYou donât understand,â he says with a fire in his voice thatâs been missing for way too long. âIâm the one who kept pushing to take her out on the bike. I thought it would be fun for her. It was too cold to be on the bike. But no, I had to have my way. Never considered I would make us an easy target. Thatâs on me. Thatâs my fuck-up.â His voice rises with each word, and I feel even worse about being so wrapped up in my own stuff that I hadnât realized how much heâs been struggling.
