Page 121 of Adrenalina (The Rush World)

The ding of my phone distracts me.

SUNSHINE:Pulling up right now.

This is just great and dandy!

That was sarcasm.

I’m a few steps away from getting to the front door of the house I rented out for the week.

I see a car in the driveway and Xavier’s back waiting at the front door.

As I catch a glimpse of his back from the little distance between us, my heart skips a beat.

It’s been too long, yet too little since I last saw him, and now, he’s here.

The distance between us seems to fade away as he notices my presence and turns around.

We lock eyes, and a surge of electricity courses through my veins, igniting a familiar fire within me. He has a big smile on his face and I return it quickly.

His presence is like a ray of sunlight breaking through the clouds, illuminating the world around me.

The walls I’ve built around my heart begin to crumble, revealing a raw and authentic version of myself.

It’s something only he can do and it’s scary.

But along with the fear and excitement comes a lingering uncertainty.

What if he doesn’t feel the same way?

What if our connection is just a figment of my imagination?

I’m afraid of putting my heart on the line, afraid of the pain of rejection.

Yet I can’t deny the pull, the inexplicable force that draws me toward him. It’s a feeling that goes beyond logic or reason. With each encounter, I find myself falling deeper into the abyss of affection, craving his presence like a desert craves rain.

As we finally come face to face, a mixture of excitement and nervousness fills the air.

Will today be the day that I can gather the courage to reveal my true feelings?

Or will I continue to hide them, knowing what happened to me in the past?

I’ll let this flow for a bit before I decide on that.

I didn’t notice I was standing still while I was looking at him. His feet eat up the distance between us and then his arms are wrapped around my shoulders. Pulling me into him, I accept his greeting by wrapping my arms around his waist.

“Hi,” he mumbles in my hair.

“Hi,” I respond.

“I missed you.” My heart swells at his words.

“You know I did too,” I tell him honestly.

He lets out a sigh of relief once we pull away. “How have you been, Blondie?” His cheeky self is back with that infectious grin on his face.

“Good,” I reply simply as I walk past him, gently brushing my shoulder with his before I get to the door to open it. Once it’s unlocked, I turn around to see him thanking his driver before he pulls out of the driveway.

“After you, my lady,” he says, his hand motioning for me to go inside.
