She pulls away from me and as she does, I slip my heart in her back pocket.

That’s a lie. She already had it. But I give it to her again for good measure.

She gives me a sad smile, nods her head up towards the bedrooms.

“Back to the salt mines.”

I scratch the back of my neck.

“Do me a favour?”

She tilts her head, nods. “Yeah?”

“Don’t wake him up.”
