“Jax,” she gasps.
“What, Angel?”
“Do you mean that?” she blinks and her eyes brim with tears.
“That you mean everything to me?” I frown at her.
“Yes,” she whispers.
“Lucia,” I growl. “You think I went into this with you lightly? I told you that this was it for me, didn’t I? That no one else would ever touch you?”
“Yes.”
I stare at her, waiting for her to tell me that she feels the same, because the fact that this has come as a shock to her makes me nervous.
“I…” She blinks at me. “This feels like a fairytale that I’m going to have to wake up from.”
“Why?” I frown at her. “Why is it a fairytale?”
“Because I love you so much, Jax. I’ve been in love with you since I was seventeen years old. Happiness like this can’t be real, can it?”
“It sure feels real enough to me,” I smile at her. “I love you, Angel. Your dad is going to be pissed as hell at me, but we’ll all get over it. I promise.” My words are full of conviction because I want her to believe them but I’m not sure I believe them myself.
