Page 52 of The Game You Play (Rixon Raiders 2)
âHey,â I slid my fingers underneath her jaw and tilted her face up, âyou asked.â
âI know, I just... ugh, I hate her.â
âYou sound a little jealous, Giles.â The idea had me feeling a little smug.
âItâs not exactly on my list to watch the guy Iâm...â She stopped herself and I found myself wanting to pull the words out of her but I wouldnât. âIt hurt seeing the two of you together is all.â
âTogether, me and Jenna werenât...â
Fuck.
Bellâs.
âThat wasnât what it looked like.â
âYou mean you didnât take her back to the storeroom and fuck her?â Her eyes darted away. âCould have fooled me.â
My spine stiffened; the urge to argue with her strong. Felicity was only half-right; I hadnât fucked Jenna that night, but she had given me head.
; Shame was a feeling I was unfamiliar with, but it didnât dull the impact.
âI didnât fuck her,â I said, as if it mattered.
âWhatever, Jason.â She looked at me again. âThis, us, itâs all a game. And like I said the other night in your bathroom, Iâm not sure I want to play anymore.â
The bathroom. Shit. That had been a mistake. I was drunk and angry and she was right there, my own personal punching bag.
Rather than acknowledge that clusterfuck, I inched closer, erasing the sliver of space between us. âYou sure about that?â
Felicityâs lips parted on a soft intake of breath. âWhat are you doing, Jason?â Her voice trembled.
âI thought it was obvious. Iâm here because I couldnât stand the idea of Thatcher hurting you.â
âBecause youâre jealous.â It didnât come out sassy this time.
âIâm notâ¦â Rubbing the back of my neck, I mulled over what to say next. When really all I wanted to do was kiss her. After all, didnât they say actions spoke louder than words?
âYouâre so fucking beautiful.â My lips hovered dangerously close to hers. It would have been so easy to crash my mouth down on hers. But I wanted to savor her, to taste every inch of her skin.
I wanted to lose myself in her, and that disarmed me.
âYour eyes are so dark,â she said. âItâs like theyâre black.â
âThey say the eyes are the window to the soul. So what does that say about me?â
âI think it says youâre deadly.â Felicity leaned into me, our noses brushing, lips almost touching.
âDeadly, huh?â
We moved closer still.
âAnd dangerous...â
âDefinitely dangerous,â I echoed, tasting her. Once. Twice.
âDonât prove me wrong, Jason,â her words slammed into me but I didnât have time to process them, because her mouth sealed over mine and I knew the game had just changed.
