Page 27 of Takedown Teague (Caged 1)
Stupid name for a stupid little shit.
âYou need to go,â I told him. âGet the fuck out of here right now!â
âIâm not going anywhere!â Keith yelled. âWe were having a private conversationââ
; âWhich you made public by fucking screaming at her!â
âI am not putting up with this shit.â Keith tossed his arms up in the air and turned around to walk further back inside. I should have taken the opportunity to knock him out cold since he had his back turned, but Triaâs hand found its way once again to my chest and tensed against my skin as if she knew what I was thinking.
I looked at her, and her wide eyes pleaded with me.
âYou should go,â she said. âItâs okayâreally.â
âBullshit,â I replied. âIâm not going anywhere as long as heâs acting that way.â
âThe way Iâm acting?â Keith snorted. âDo you even hear yourself?â
âI wasnât talking to you, fucktard.â
âLiam!â
âYeah, Liam.â Keith sneered. âWhy donât you go crawl back into whatever hole you came from?â
âKeith!â
âVery clever,â I replied. âDid you go all the way through sixth grade just to learn that one?â
âDemmy, you cannot be serious about staying in this dump with this idiot!â
âKeith, Iâm not going anywhere,â Tria said. Her voice was soft but cold. âThis is my home now. Iâve got classes, I have a job, and I can afford it just fine. Liamâs been helping me outââ
âYeah, I bet! Helping himself, more like.â
Yeah, I was going to kill him.
âKeith! That is enough!â Tria turned and moved toward him. I started to follow her further inside, but one glare over her shoulder stopped me in my tracks. âHeâs been a good friend. Iâm just fine here, and Iâm not going back homeânot until I get my degree.â
âThatâs four years, Demmy,â he whined. He fucking whined.
âAt least you can count.â I sneered at him. âNow why donât you try counting the steps outside? Iâd be happy to accompany you.â
Tria glared at me again, and I huffed a long breath out my nose.
âYeah, heâs obviously a great guy.â Keith crossed his arms over his chest. âI bet your dad would be really proud of you shacking up withââ
âShut your mouth, Keith Harrison!â she shrieked. âDonât you dare bring my father into this!â
âTruth hurts, huh?â
âThatâs it,â I said. I tried to keep my voice even, but it wasnât easy. âIâm sorry, Tria, but Iâm not going to stand here and have you listen to any more of this shit.â
âThen why donât you walk out the door and go away?â Keith crossed his arms in front of his chest.
âYou are the one who needs to get out,â I said. Before he could start arguing with me about it anymore, Tria said the only words I really needed to hear.
âHeâs right, Keithâyou need to go.â
