Page 13 of White Knuckles (Lost Kings MC 7)
As if she canât wait another second, she wraps her legs around my hips, undoing my towel with her feet and kicking it away. âWant my cock bad, huh?â
The corners of her mouth twitch up. âFuck me.â
I press my dick against her pussy. She gasps as I push into her and reaches for me. âIâm here, baby,â I say, taking her hands.
âWyatt.â
I pull back and thrust in deeper this time. Her body twists and arches to meet me. âHold on to me, Trinity.â
Her arms wrap around my neck and my hands grip her hips, holding her in place while my body strains to get as close to her as possible. Weâre nowhere near finished. I pump into her faster, changing the angles up to give her the most pleasure. Itâs beautiful when she finally lets go. Her eyes roll back. Her lips part. She stutters and makes little half-word noises. I slow my pace and drag it out for her. Pressing deep and steady.
When sheâs calmer, her eyes flutter open. She places her hands on my cheeks, forcing me to look into her eyes. All I see is the deep well of love she has. For me.
My goal was to make her come, but now Iâm the one coming apart.
âIâll be by your side no matter how dark our road may be,â she whispers.
Burying my face against her neck, I kiss her shoulder. âYouâre all the light I need, Trinity.â
My head aches from exhaustion, but no matter how hard I try, I canât sleep. My constant tossing and turning has to be waking Trin up, so after kissing her sleepy cheek, I slide out of bed, take one last look at my girl safely snuggled in her mess of blankets, then walk down to the living room.
I shouldnât be surprised to find the war room door open, but I am surprised to hear Rock and Z inside. I figured Rock would be at his house and Z would beâ¦wherever Z is these days.
âWhatâre you doinâ up?â Z asks as I push open the door.
I give him my youâre-kidding stare. âHow the hell am I supposed to sleep?â
âMake up with Trin?â he asks. Heâd given me shit as soon as he returned from dropping her off earlier. If I hadnât been so consumed by everything else, I definitely wouldâve kicked his ass, although secretly, I kind of liked the way he stuck up for Trinity.
Iâm complicated that way.
âWeâre fine,â I answer. âThanks for your concern.â
Rockâs eyes follow my movements as I pull out my chair and drop into it, but heâs silent. I take him inâhe looks more beaten down than I feel. âWhatâs up, prez?â
âIâm tryinââ
I take note of the bottle of Scotch on the table. Doesnât look like either of them have touched a drop yet. âI know you are.â
He lifts his chin at the phone in front of him. âI spoke to Tony earlier. Heâs got a contact in the Criminal Investigation Unit. Gonna get us some info on that Brand asshole.â
âYou think theyâre gonna charge me?â
âHope didnât like the arson investigatorâs questions. I donât want you blindsided by any bullshit.â
âThanks, brother.â I must have been more out of it than I realized. Although the guyâs attitude was annoying, I didnât get the feeling he seriously suspected me. He seemed more focused on the body theyâd found.
The body that probably belonged to Twitch.
Twitch. The kid I brought into the club.
âDid he say when they thought theyâd get an ID on the body?â Rock asks.
âCouple days.â
âThey really seemed to think Twitch set the fire. It makes no sense. He was all about the club. Had no real family.â
Z shakes his head. âYou caught him breakinâ in there once before.â
âYeah, because he had nowhere else to go. It was like a game to him. Breaking in to places he shouldnât be. Settinâ fire to my business? Killinâ himself in the process? I donât see it.â
âIâm inclined to agree with you,â Rock says.
Z shrugs and meets my eyes. âHe could have been working with someone else. Moneyâs a powerful motivator when you donât have any.â
Murphy and Teller stop by a few minutes later. âWhatâre you doing here?â Rock asks, directing his question to Murphy.
âGirls are asleep.â He barely glances at me as he rounds the table and drops into his chair.
âYou need anything, brother?â Teller asks as he takes his seat.
âI donât know.â I focus on Murphy whoâs busy studying his hands. âWhat was Twitch like when you left last night?â
He lifts his shoulders and still wonât meet my eyes. âTwitch was Twitch.â
âYou two get along?â
âYeah.â
Rock sits forward, obviously concerned about Murphyâs mood. âHe seem edgy? Or try to talk you into leaving early?â
Finally, Murphy looks at me. âNo. I left early all on my own. Iâm so sorry, brother.â
âShit, Murphy. I ainât blaming you.â
âI shouldâve stayed.â
âFrom what I overheard,â Rock says, âit wouldnât have mattered. The fire started early in the morning.â
Z slaps Murphyâs arm. âOr you coulda been hurt. We donât know if Twitch was working with someone.â
âHe wasnât,â I insist.
Murphy nods. âI liked giving him shit, but he worked hard. All he talked about was patching in to the club.â His mouth turns up into a smirk. âHe thought you fuckinâ walked on water,â he says to me. âNo way he torched your place.â
Weâre all staring at Murphy by the time he finishes his speech. He sits back, lacing his fingers together. âHe didnât do it.â
âAll right,â Z says. He taps the table to get everyoneâs attention. âWho else?â He lifts his chin at me. âHowâs your relationship with Whisper?â
It takes a second for me to get my words in order. I donât want to throw shade on Whisper with nothing to back it up. âIâm not sure. Heâs always been laid back. Hands off. Collects his check. Signs off on whatever I want to do. Itâs always been a way for him to wash some cash and bang hot chicks.â
Z chuckles. âThat ugly motherfucker would never get laid otherwise.â
I flash a quick smile. âTrue. Lately, heâs been a pain in the ass though. Bugginâ me about every last fuckinâ nickel.â I shake my head trying to come up with something more specific. âHe wasnât okay with the expansion.â My gaze strays to Murphy. âWasnât thrilled about me bringing you in.â
âHeâs an asshole, for sure,â Rock says. âBut burning down his own business is pretty extreme.â
âPersonality flaws aside,â Teller says, leaning forward and placing his elbows on the table. âWhisper isnât stupid. Even if heâs having cash flow issues, he knows as well as any of us an obvious arson wonât net him any insurance money.â
âFuuuck,â I mutter.
Rock gives me a sympathetic look. âEven after we get you clear of the criminal investigation, youâre in for a hell of a fight with your insurance company.â
âI know you donât want to hear this, bro,â Z says. âBut if they determine Twitch did it, youâre gonna have to distance yourself from him.â
I nod to indicate I heard him, but thatâs it. I already considered that earlier.
âWeâll figure out a way to pay for his funeral and keep you out of it,â Rock assures me. He leans forward. âNow, what about the new guy?â
âSully? Jakeâs brother? No way. Heâs a straight arrow. Does self-defense training with the Sheriffâs department out in Johnson County.â
âGot his own place,â Teller reminds me.
âYeah, but itâs far enough away. Weâre not in competition with each other.â
Rock picks up the bottle of Scotch and tips it into his glass, then passes the bottle to Z. He nudges the glass my way, but I shake my head. âIâm good.â
Murphy stands and grabs a couple glasses from the cabinet, setting them down on the table with a thunk.
âYou even old enough to drink yet, bro
?â Z jokes.
âPlease.â Murphy snorts and snatches the bottle out of Zâs hand. âI feel about a hundred.â
Rock chuckles into his glass. âCry me a river, kid.â
After a few sips of Scotch, Murphy leans back. âRansom.â
Teller nods. âHeâs the only one who makes sense.â
Iâd been having that same thought all day. Heâs the only person alive who has a reason to come at us so hard.
Weâre all silent as we let that sink in.
âHow was your trip?â Z asks.
âFine until this morning.â
âSorry, bro,â Murphy says.
âWhatâd you guys do?â Teller asks.
My lips curl into a smirk. âWhat do you think?â After a couple seconds, I drop the cocky attitude. âLooked at a couple of cabins for sale. Did some hikingââ
âWait,â Z throws up a hand to interrupt me. âGo back. Cabins?â
âDonât worry, weâre not moving away from our happy little compound. Just a vacation-weekend-type place. Think Iâll have to wait on that now.â
âHey.â Rock reaches over and pops me on the arm. âWeâre all here. Whatever you need.â
âThanks. Oh, we did have one weird thing happen. Ran across a pot farm while we were on our hike.â
Zâs eyes widen. âNo shit?â
âLike a big operation or some personal supply?â Teller asks.
âWe didnât exactly stick around to take inventory. Looked like it operates as a Christmas tree farm.â
Z nods slowly. âGood cover if they do surveillance.â
âThey had security cameras and fucking bear traps around the perimeter, so I think itâs more than just someoneâs personal op.â
âTell Sparky,â Rock says, drumming his fingers on the table. âLet him check his weed-buddy network.â
When he finishes laughing, Z glances over at me. âGive me the address, Iâll look into it. You ask Sparky to do it, heâll forget by the time he gets back downstairs.â
Thereâs a soft tapping at the door, and I lean back, wrapping my fingers around the knob and yanking it toward me. Hopeâs on the other side wearing a LOKI sweatshirt, flannel pants and an uncertain expression.
âHey, baby doll,â Rock greets, waving her inside. âWhat are you doing over here?â
âI woke up and you werenât there.â She casts a glance at the five of us while rounding the table. âFigured you were over here.â She reaches over and touches my shoulder. âHow are you?â
âFine.â
Rock pulls her into his lap, and she gives him a quick kiss. âAm I interrupting?â
âNo,â we all answer almost at the same time.
She chuckles and leans back against Rock.
âEverything all right at the house?â Murphy asks.
âAlexa was up.â She hesitates. âThatâs why Iââ
âShit. Iâm sorry, Hope.â
âItâs fine. I wasnât sleeping well anyway.â
Murphy stands, pushing his chair in. âIâm gonna go help Heidi.â He meets my eyes. âUnless you need me?â
âNo. Go take care of your girls. Iâll see you in the morning.â
Teller lifts his chin Murphyâs way. âYou need me?â
âNah.â Murphy taps his cheek. âSheâs just teething. Itâs been a rough week.â
Teller sets his phone on the table. âYou guys need something, let me know.â
âIâm sorry,â Hope says after he leaves. âHe didnât have to go. Thatâs not why I came over.â
Rock squeezes her closer. âNo? Whyâd you come over?â
âTo find you.â They nuzzle each other and generally behave as if theyâve been apart for days instead of a few hours. Z, Teller, and I entertain ourselves by rolling our eyes and making barf faces at each other.
âIs Trinity up?â Hope asks after she and Rock finally calm the fuck down.
âShe wasnât when I came down here.â I cock my head and wait for her to spit out whateverâs bothering her. âWhatâs wrong, Hope?â
âNothing. Are you meeting with the adjuster tomorrow?â
âIâm supposed to, yeah. Why? You need to be there with me?â
She sits forward, and all traces of lovey-dovey Hope vanish. âNo. I think if you bring a lawyer itâs going to send the wrong signal. You might want to check with Glassman, though.â
âOkay. Anything else?â
âIf itâs an attorney who wants to take your statement, I want you to call me right away. Iâll come down, or weâll have Glassman get his overpriced ass down there.â
I chuckle at her contempt for the clubâs lawyer. âWill do.â
âIâve only worked on one arson caseâand by work, I mean read through a bunch of dusty filesâso itâs not really my area, but please be careful what you say to them. Cooperate without making unnecessary comments. Be civil.â
âYeah,â I answer slowly. âYou do realize weâve dealt with cops and shit before, right?â
Pink stains her cheeks, but then she shakes her head. âI understand that. Itâs justâ¦I know it seems like the insurance company should be on your side. But theyâre not. The adjusterâs job is to do whatever he can to give the insurance company a basis to deny your claim.â
âIf Empireâs investigator clears me, that should help though, right?â
âBrand?â She crosses her arms over her chest. âWhat a dick,â she mutters, making all of us laugh. âItâs possible the insurance company will ask Brand to âassistâ them,â she says complete with air quotes. âThat way they can make their findings look more legitimate. I donât know if Brandâs the type of guy to fall for that or not.â
My impression is that Brand wonât take kindly to being manipulated, so Iâm not overly worried.
âYou might want to think about hiring your own fire investigator now, while the scene is still fresh,â she advises.
âAll right.â
âIâll see if Tony can recommend someone,â Rock says. âYou have enough going on with that and the wedding.â
âIs the wedding still on?â Z asks.
âFuck, yeah it is.â Thereâs no room for argument in my tone, and Z puts his hands up.
âJust checking.â
Hope lets out a big yawn, and Rock catches my eye. âWeâre gonna head back. Iâll see you first thing in the morning.â
âIâll be here. Doubt Iâll get much sleep.â
I stumble into our room as the sunlightâs peeking through the edges of the blackout shades Trin keeps pulled down tight. Her blonde hair spread out over the pillows and the shape of her body are all I can make out. I slip into bed, trying not to jostle her too much. She rolls over anyway, tucking herself against my side.
âWyatt,â she mumbles.
âIâm here, angel.â
After a few minutes she turns over, and I pull her close, wrapping her up so tight, she wiggles in her sleep and adjusts the arm I slung over her ribs.
âAre you okay?â
âIâm fine,â she answers. âAre you okay?â
âBetter now.â Canât seem to feel a damn thing, but having Trinity next to me brings me back to life.
I donât know if she does it on purpose, but she stretches, bumping her ass into my groin. My hand slides up her side, reaching under the arm she tucked close to her chest to cup her breast. My thumb absently slides over the fabric covering her nipple until it hardens under my touch. âAre you okay?â I ask again. This time I whisper the words against her ear. âWe had a prettyâ¦intense couple days together. We were talking about some serious stuff. Iâm sorry all of it got ruined.â
âWyatt,â she breathes out, her breath warm and soft against my arm. She struggles to turn her body, and I loosen my grip on her. When sheâs facing me, she places her hand on my chest, her arm tucked between our bodies. âI still canât believe it. Yesterday everything was so perfect. And nowâ¦â she trails off.
I brush the hair off her face
. âIâll make it perfect for you again, Trinity. I promise.â My hand cups her jaw, angling her face for a kiss.
She gasps as our lips meet, one of her hands grips my arm, pulling me closer as if the few centimeters of space between us are too much.
My cock hardens in an instant, and I groan loudly when she pushes her pelvis into me. I break the kiss, resting my forehead against hers.
âWhat do you need?â she whispers.
âLet me love you, Angel Face. Thatâs all I need right now.â
CHAPTER TWELVE
Five days before the weddingâ¦
The clubâs pretty solemn when I enter the war room for church a few hours later.
Each of my brothers offers a nod or words of support. At one time or another, almost everyone in this room has helped out or worked at Furious. Theyâre all feeling the loss.
âWhat do we know, prez?â Dex asks, getting down to business.
âGotta be Ransom. Gotta be tied to the shooting,â Murphy says, still committed to the same theory he floated last night.
âWe really think Ransomâs even alive?â Ravage asks. âFigured someone woulda put a bullet in his brain by now.â
âThey ID the body yet?â Teller asks.
âDonât know,â I answer. âBut itâs gotta be Twitch. No oneâs been able to reach him.â
âSparky, give us some good news,â Rock says.
Our stoner brotherâs usually animated and practically bouncing out of his chair when heâs asked to talk about his plants. Today, heâs wearing a kicked-puppy expression. He swings his bleary gaze my way. âSorry about Furious, man.â
âThanks.â
âYou still having the wedding?â
âYeah, why?â
âNo reason.â
I remember how Sparkyâd been worried the place weâd originally planned to get married at burning down was some sort of bad omen.
Guess it doesnât matter now.
Finally, he perks up. âSo, the plants we got from the Iron Bulls are still producing. I kept some totally pure, but as an experiment, I spliced them with a couple of our better strains, and the results are fucktastic.â He launches into a lengthy lecture about THC percentages, and even though I tune most of it out, itâs nice to be doing something normal.
