Page 32 of Tattered on My Sleeve (Lost Kings MC 4)
âShow me, Angel Face.â
Her eyelids flutter shut. Iâm torn between thrusting up fast and furiously and letting things slowly play out. Sheâs so pretty, I enjoy watching her ride me for a while. The sighs, moans, noises and the way she bites her bottom lip start to take their toll on my control, though. It takes a lot of determination to hold back.
âEyes, baby. Let me see them.â
Her mouth curves into a dreamy smile before she opens her eyes.
âAw fuck.â Her honey gaze sends a spark of pleasure streaking down my spine. Bracing her hands on my thighs, she leans back just enough to lift her breasts, but tips her chin, so weâre still staring at each other. Thatâs the moment I lose it. Her short breaths turn into rough panting moans as she slams down harder, grinding herself against me.
âFuck, right there, Wyatt, please donâtââ
Gripping her hips tighter, holding her in place, I arch up into her. At the last moment, she shudders long, and violently, her eyes falling shut as she slumps against my chest.
It takes me a moment to come back to myself, but I wrap my arms around her, kissing her head.
I donât care about anything but this anymore. Not our pasts, her reservations. None of it. I just want to keep this feeling no matter what.
âHey,â Z calls out as he pounds down the stairs.
âWhere you goinâ in such a hurry?â
âRock needs us. Fuckinâ GSC wants a meet, like right now.â
âGive me a sec.â
He cocks his head and gives me a once over. âWe got it covered. Stay here.â
âAre you fuckinâ serious?â
âBro, what are you gonna do if shit goes sideways?â
âUh, my fists and trigger finger are fine, ya dick.â
âCome on, donât fuckinâ do this. Rock wants you to stay here. Dex, Murphy and Bricks are meetinâ up at CB. I gotta go.â
Motherfucker.
GSCâs been getting twitchier and up in our business more than ever. I should be at that meet. Thatâs my job; to protect the president. Having him order me to stay here burns my fuckinâ ass.
Godfuckingdammit.
Itâs not that I donât trust Z and the other guys. Not that at all.
Trinity walks in as Iâm contemplating redecorating the living room wall with my fists.
âYou need help?â she asks.
âNo,â I snap back. Shit. I stop and put my back against the wall. âCome here, babe. Sorry.â
Shock sends her eyebrows up into her hairline. I must be some kind of jerk that sheâs always so damn surprised when I apologize to her.
âWhatâs wrong?â she asks as she approaches.
âNothinâ. Rockâs got a meet and I should be there. This fuckinâ sucks. Thatâs all.â
âWant me to take you?â
Thatâs the last fuckinâ thing I want. But I realize sheâs just trying to be helpful.
âNo, babe. Wouldnât be safe. But thanks.â
She tries to keep my mind off things by taking me into the kitchen to talk to her while sheâs trying out a recipe for Heidiâs birthday cake.
Is this what Iâve been reduced to? Iâm supposed to be the muscle of the MC. My prez is off meetinâ with some little gang punks and Iâm stuck in some alternate universe where my big, grumpy ass is baking cakes?
Christ.
Trin keeps me occupied and stuffs me full of cake for the next hour and a half. Every couple minutes I yank out my phone, but nothing. Fed up, I finally dial Z.
âHeyââ he answers.
By all the background noise, I figure theyâre in the car and have me on speakerphone. Iâm fuckinâ livid no one bothered to call me sooner. âWhat the motherfuck, Z? Iâve been going nuts.â
Rockâs the one who answers my outburst. âWeâre good, brother.â
Iâm still fuckinâ pissed at him for having me stay behind. âRock, you dick. You coulda at least let me ride along.â
âAnd do what, watch if Loco decided to blow us up?â
âFuck you. Iâm not an invalid.â Then his words sink in. âWhat are you talking about? Loco came?â
âYeah. Wanted to introduce Gunnerâs replacement.â
Yeah, saw that coming. âKnew that little shit wouldnât last long.â
âAlso wanted to let me know he was onto our Western connection and that he wants it.â
Thatâs bad. Real fucking bad. âFuuuck.â
Rockâs sigh comes through loud and clear. âYeah.â
âYou tell him yes for now?â I ask.
âOf course.â
Thatâs something we need to discuss with all the members. âIâll call everyone in for church tomorrow.â
âIâll do it, brother. Itâs my job,â Z answers.
I snort out a humorless laugh. Christ, at least let me do the easy shit. âWe seem to have flipped jobs, bro, if you havenât noticed.â
âThanks man,â Z says.
âYou guys cominâ back here?â Iâll be bouncing off the walls soon if Trinity doesnât find some more cake testers.
Rock hesitates for so long, I figure itâs got something to do with Hope. âFucking bring her with you, Rock. Iâm sure Trin wouldnât mind some alternate company.â
âTomorrow, I promise.â
âAll right. Later.â
âEverything okay?â Trin asks when I hang up.
âYeah, I guess.â
Heidi did not want to get together to pick out her cake. Teller ended up explaining what she wanted, and I hope I got it right.
âWhy are we going if sheâs gonna be a snot to you all afternoon?â Wrath bitches as I slip my shoes on.
I give him a cool look over my shoulder. It appears he has no intention of getting up and ready.
âSheâs club family. And she has her reasons.â
âMy woman shouldnât have to suck up to a little brat. Donât give a fuck whose sister she is.â
Holy fuck. The way he calls me his woman like that sets off sparks of pleasure over my skin. Thankfully heâs not looking at me, so he doesnât notice my reaction. âIâm not sucking up to anyone. Iâm helping the club out like I always do.â Wrath has never asked why Heidi and I donât get along. Iâm sure he already suspects and thatâs what really has him so miffed.
After some brow beating, I get him into clean clothes. He refuses to shave, but I like the mountain-man scruffy look heâs got going on, so I donât push my luck.
Heâs clearly annoyed I need the prospects to load the cake and decorations into my Jeep. When I get in next to him, heâs scrubbing his hands over his face.
âI hate this.â
Settling my hand on his knee, I squeeze gently until he turns my way. âI know. Is there anything I can do?â
His irritation disappearsâfor the moment. âNo. You really have been an angel. Iâd be even more miserable if it wasnât for you.â
âShit, itâs hard to imagine you even more obnoxious.â
He cracks a smile and gestures at the steering wheel. âLetâs go. Donât want to keep the princess waitinâ.â
We pull up to Rockâs house at the same time Murphy does. He ambles over and opens my door.
âYou got my box, babe?â
I jerk my head toward the back seat. âBehind me.â
I slide down and push Murphy out of the way to grab Wrathâs crutches and bring them over to his side. He gives me a look like he wants to take his cast off and beat someone to death with it.
âMurph, help her with the cake and all that other shit.â
âYeah, no problem.â
Hope runs over and grabs the bags out of my hands when I walk into the kitchen. âOh my gosh, the cake you made is so beautiful!â she gushes, and a surge of pride drowns out some of my nerves.
While weâre standing there admiring it, she whips out her cell phone to take pictures.
âCrap. I havenât figured out how to use the camera on this thing yet,â she grum
bles while messing with the phone.
âItâs okay. I got some shots of it before we left.â
âGot it,â she says, as if my words didnât register. âLet me take a picture of you next to it then.â Apparently she did hear me.
âNo way.â
Hopeâs forceful when she wants to be and positions me where she wants so she can grab her pictures. I stick my tongue out at her the entire time.
Rock, thankfully interrupts our photo session. âWhatâs Wrathâs problem today?â Rock asks as he walks into the kitchen.
âHow long do you have?â
He chuckles and gives me a quick hug.
âDid you see the cake she made?â Hope asks.
Itâs odd that sheâs so impressed by a frickinâ cake, but I sense her admiration is genuine and feel a little less out of place. The awful doubts that usually float around in my head recede to a dull murmur.
âWhereâs Z?â I ask
Rock nods at the back door. âMessinâ with the grill.â
I grab the platter, tongs and extra-long spatula I brought. âIâll make sure he doesnât set himself on fire.â
Hopeâs chuckles follow me out the door.
Wrathâs taken up a seat next to the grill where he can critique Zâs technique.
âDid Murphy bring those bigger boxes up?â
Wrath nods to the shady part of the yard, where someone already set up the lawn games I picked up for the younger kids. By the smirk on his face, it must have been Z. Not a surprise since heâs pretty much an overgrown kid himself.
âYouâre welcome,â Z says, kissing my cheek.
âLove the apron, bro. Very manly,â Wrath snarks.
Z adjusts the apron ties and grins. âThanks. I thought so too.â
âAre the girls here yet?â I ask.
âAxelâs bringing them.â
âWhy the fuck didnât they ride with you?â Murphy grumbles behind me.
Confused, I turn to find Teller and Murphy. Teller rolls his eyes skyward before answering, âAxel took her out this morning, and they werenât back by the time I needed to leave.â
Murphyâs clearly not satisfied with that answer.
âPoor Axel trapped in a car with three teenage girls,â I joke to lighten the mood.
âPlease, that woulda been my dream scenario at his age,â Z says.
Wrath can only contain himself for so long. âWhoâre you kidding? It still is.â
The conversation rolls downhill from there.
Someone set up a cooler at the corner of the patio. I find it stocked with beer and soda. I grab one of each and set them down next to Wrath before heading back inside.
The girls finally get here, but go straight inside to watch movies. Heidi stops and glances at the cake. âI like purple better, but itâs nice,â she says.
I donât know if I should cry or scream.
Instead of doing either, I get more food ready to go outside.
âDo you need help?â Hope asks from behind me.
âNah, I got it. Maybe hang with the girls?â Laughter floats out of the living room as I say it. Hope looks at me as if sheâs rather gnaw off her arm than hang with a bunch of seventeen-year-olds.
âYou sure you donât want to hang with them? Youâre closer to their age.â
No, thank you.
âYou makinâ progress there, bro?â Z asks once weâre alone.
I snort and look away. âDefine progress.â
He nods. âGive her time.â
Time. Fuck, weâve wasted eight years already. I ache all over and canât sit still any longer, so I haul myself out of my chair. The weatherâs perfect. Hate that I canât ride on a day like this. Hate being trapped and dependent on others to get around. All of it.
Iâm talking to Rock when Bricks and his brood show up. Seeing him doinâ the dad thing somehow makes me feel worse. He and Winter havenât even been together that long and they look like one big happy family. âHey, brother,â I call out.
His two mini-mesâLisa and Deaconârun right for me and I brace for impact. Thankfully they stop when they take in the crutches.
Lisa plants her fists on her hips. The expression on her face is too funny. âWhat happened?â she shrieks.
âBroke it.â
âI bet it was on your motorcycle. Theyâre dangerous,â she sing-songs back.
Rock chuckles and Lisa turns her glare on him. âThey are, Uncle Rock.â
âSo I hear.â
âWhatâs up with you, little man?â I ask Deacon. Itâs a miracle the kid ever gets a word out around his sister.
Bricks catches up to them and chases them off before Deacon answers.
âHis mom pitched a fit when I picked âem up. Heâs been quiet all day.â
âSorry, man,â Rock answers.
Winter stops long enough to say hello. Sheâs got her fussy toddler on her hip, so she keeps moving to the backyard after she gets a quick kiss from Bricks.
Heidi and her friends race outside. She stops and gives me a big hug.
âI hate seeing you on crutches, Uncle Wrath,â she says sincerely.
âNot more than I hate beinâ on âem, Heidi-bug.â She doesnât even blink. I get away with callinâ her bug, mainly because I think sheâs too scared of me to argue.
The rest of the afternoonâs a pleasant blur. We eat. The kids play. The familyâs in one place. Trinity lets me put my arm around her for a whole five seconds.
Heidi finally gets around to opening presents, saving Murphyâs for last. Already heard him yap about the black and pink helmet for days, so I know whatâs in the box.
âItâs from me, Heidi-bug,â Murphy says with a grin.
âI figured.â Heidi rips into the box, shiny paper flying everywhere. âOh, I love it! Thank you, Blake.â
âWeâll take our ride in a few, okay?â
Is he fuckinâ serious? Axel left the group when Heidi picked up Murphyâs present, but heâs still within earshot.
âYeah.â Heidi smiles shyly. âI didnât know if we were still doing that.â
âOf course, Bug. Itâs your birthday.â
She runs over to her friends. Murphâs gaze follows her across the yard. Jesus Christ. I can smell trouble from a mile away.
âTheyâve been doing that every year on her birthday since she was like eight,â Teller says.
I turn and realize Tellerâs explaining the completely-inappropriate-now ritual to Hope.
The dramaâs starting to bore me. Iâd love to get through Trinâs cake, so we can go the fuck home. Instead, Heidi races back and asks Murphy to take her for a ride now.
I raise an eyebrow at him. âWe havenât done cake yet.â You know, the one Trin stressed about making all week long?
Murphy slaps my arm, coming damn close to having his own arm snapped off. âWe wonât be gone long, bro.â
After watching them leave, Hope turns to us and sighs. âAw, thatâs sweet that they have a birthday ritual.â
She would think that.
Sensing my irritation, she raises an eyebrow. âWhat?â
Why do I have to spell this shit out for her when Rockâs standing right there? âHe needs to knock that shit off. It ainât okay anymore.â
âWait, I thought you were team Murphy?â
After that whole exchange I had with Murphy the morning after my welcome home party, I think Iâm switching teams. âAxelâs a good kid. He cares about her.â
âMurphy cares about her.â
Did I grow a vagina and no one told me? Why the fuck am I having this conversation with her? âItâs not about that. It ainât cool to have another brotherâs girl on the back of your bike.â
Rock taps my shoulder. âWeâll worry about it another day. Axelâs fine. Tellerâs fine with it. Let it go.â
Yeah, whatever.
âThe cake Trin made is pretty kick-ass. Sheâs real excited about it too. Those two better not be gone too long.â Just then I hea
r Murphyâs bike. Fucker.
Hope laughs. âYouâre so cute.â
What? âCute? Sugar, thereâs absolutely nothing âcuteâ about me.â
Rock tilts his head like heâs worried sheâs got a screw loose.
Hope struggles to come up with something. âWell, I think itâs cute youâre all worried about Trinity being disappointed if Heidi doesnât get to see the cake she made for her,â she finally babbles out.
I glance over at Rock. Control your woman, dick.
Fucker just smirks at me.
âShe spent a lot of time on it, thatâs all, Hope.â
She nods like Iâm full of shit. âSure. Okay, Wrath,â she says as she backs away.
Rock watches her walk away before laughing his ass off at me. âShe so has your number, brother.â
âShut the fuck up,â I grumble.
A good hour later, Heidi and Murphy still havenât returned. Ice crackles through my veins when a cop car pulls up with lights and sirens. Christ, I hope Murphy didnât take a spill with Heidi at his back. Once I spot Heidi in the back of the cop car, I can breathe. Whatever this is should be interesting.
Hope flings open the garage door Iâm standing next to with an irritated Rock right behind her. I canât help laughing.
âShut up, dick,â he snaps at me.
Hopeâs red-faced, but as soon as she spots the patrol car, she straightens up and marches down to meet them.
âThe fuck?â Rock asks.
âYour house, was waiting for you to go deal with it.â
âThanks.â
Rock follows Hope to the car. Me, cops, crutches? Itâs best I wait by the house.
âCan I help you, officers?â she calls out. I donât get much more of the conversation, but a few seconds later, Rock jogs by. âNeed Teller out here now.â
Tellerâs already on his way out to see what the commotion is. Trinâs right behind him. She walks up and snakes her arm around my waist and tips her head up. âWhatâs going on?â
âNo fuckinâ clue.â
Z joins us and we watch the show.
Hope doesnât hide how pissed she is as she argues with the officers. She doesnât back down either. If anything the cops seem a little afraid of her.
The back door opens and Heidiâs finally let out. She runs past us, tears and snot running down her face.
