“Poor, baby,” she cooed. “Any man who can skin a watermelon can be taught to make pigs in blankets.”

“Skin a what?” Barbara asked.

“A watermelon,” Treasure answered with gusto like she was calling out the correct answer to a pop quiz.

Barbara made a face. “I’ve never heard of any such thing.” She shook her head. “The things you kids come up with these days.”

Treasure winked. “Not kids. Just Greer.”

“You’re enjoying this, aren’t you?” A lopsided grin slid over his lips.

“Immensely.”

Barbara clapped her hands. “Chop, chop. Those pigs in blankets aren’t gonna make themselves.”

Treasure took hold of Greer’s hand and pulled him to his feet. “Come on, Mr. NASA, let’s go make some pigs in blankets.”

He rolled his eyes. “I can hardly wait.”
